The Alexander Technique is about change - it is an educational process - a programme of self-observation and discovery. Over the years we tend to acquire damaging postural habits, due partly to the strain and tension of everyday living.
The Alexander Technique works by helping you to identify and prevent harmful postural habits, such as slouching, stooping and slumping, as this puts pressure on the joints and internal organs, which can lead to problems with digestion, circulation and breathing. You will learn to free the habits which interfere with your ease and enjoyment of life.
With the Alexander Technique you will learn how to become more aware of your posture, the way you move and sit. You will learn 'conscious awareness' and learn how to 'think' in order to overcome unhelpful habits that may be the cause of aches and pain.
As you begin to release unnecessary tension your body functions better. You will learn how to live in the present, i.e. not rushing ahead of yourself.
